This report analyzed 34 schools in the Southwest Region to see which ones were the most popular doctor's degree programs for healthcare students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from the Nursing program at each school on the list.

Our 2023 rankings named Grand Canyon University the most popular school in the Southwest Region for nursing students working on their doctor’s degree. Located in the city of Phoenix, Grand Canyon University is a private for-profit college with a fairly large student population.

About 90% of the students majoring in nursing at the school are women while 10% are male.

Tucson, AZ

The in-demand doctor’s degree programs at University of Arizona helped the school earn the #2 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular nursing schools in the Southwest Region . Located in the large city of Tucson, University of Arizona is a public school with a fairly large student population.

Out of the 34 schools in the Southwest Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Texas Christian University landed the # 3 spot on the list. Located in the city of Fort Worth, TCU is a private not-for-profit college with a fairly large student population.

With a ranking of #6, Baylor University did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for nursing students working on their doctor’s degree. Baylor is a very large private not-for-profit school located in the medium-sized city of Waco.

Of the 49 students majoring in nursing at Baylor, 41% are male and 59% are female.

The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston landed the #6 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular doctor’s degree nursing programs. UTHealth is a moderately-sized public school located in the city of Houston.
