Our 2023 rankings named Saint Vincent College the best school in Pennsylvania for healthcare students working on their basic certificate.
Saint Vincent does not offer a discount to in-state students, so the average tuition and fees for all undergraduates is $38,741. This amount may be reduced if you receive financial aid.
One thing to take note of is that Saint Vincent does offer online classes in some areas. In fact, around 40% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.

A rank of #3 on this year’s list means Cedar Crest College is a great place for healthcare students working on their basic certificate.
If you don’t receive financial aid, you can expect a bill for $42,591 to cover tuition and fees at Cedar Crest. The school does not offer an in-state discount.
Online courses are available at Cedar Crest, but you will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your field of interest. In fact, around 50% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
A rank of #4 on this year’s list means Gannon University is a great place for healthcare students working on their basic certificate.
Gannon does not offer a discount to in-state students, so the average tuition and fees for all undergraduates is $35,541. This amount may be reduced if you receive financial aid.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online classes at Gannon. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 48% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
The excellent basic certificate programs at University of Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh Campus helped the school earn the #5 place on this year’s ranking of the best healthcare schools in Pennsylvania.
Students from Pennsylvania who attend Pitt full time pay an average of $20,362 in tuition and fees. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $35,394.
One thing to take note of is that Pitt does offer online classes in some areas. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 25% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
Clarion University of Pennsylvania came in at #6 in this year’s edition of the Best Healthcare Basic Certificate Schools in Pennsylvania ranking.
In-state students pay an average of $11,173 in tuition and fees if they attend Clarion University full time. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $16,052.
One thing to take note of is that Clarion University does offer online classes in some areas. In 2019-2020 about 79% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
Montgomery County Community College did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best places for healthcare students to get a basic certificate. It came in at #7 on the list.
In-state students pay an average of $10,350 in tuition and fees if they attend Montco full time. Out-of-state students pay an average of $14,970.
If you are interested in distance education, be sure to check with the school since Montco does offer online classes for certain majors. During the 2019-2020 year, about 91% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
Laurel Business Institute ranked #8 on this year’s Best Healthcare Basic Certificate Schools in Pennsylvania list.
If you don’t receive financial aid, you can expect a bill for $10,970 to cover tuition and fees at LBI. The school does not offer an in-state discount.

Berks Technical Institute landed the #25 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best basic certificate healthcare programs.
