Our 2023 rankings named Wayne State University the most popular school in Michigan for healthcare students working on their doctor’s degree. Wayne State is located in Detroit, Michigan and has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 478 doctor’s degrees to qualified students.
Around 55% of those degree recipients were women.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online graduate classes at Wayne State. In fact, around 75% of the graduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
Out of the 16 schools in Michigan that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Michigan - Ann Arbor landed the # 2 spot on the list. Located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the large public school awarded 442 diplomas to qualifed doctor’s degree students in 2020-2021.

Grand Valley State University landed the #9 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular doctor’s degree healthcare programs. Located in Allendale, Michigan, the large public school awarded 77 diplomas to qualifed doctor’s degree students in 2020-2021.

Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine ranked #10 on this year’s Most Popular Healthcare Doctor’s Degree Schools in Michigan list. Western Michigan University School of Medicine is a private not-for-profit institution located in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The school has a very small population, and it awarded 72 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Around 53% of those degree recipients were women.
Since the graduate programs at Western Michigan University School of Medicine are online, the school is an excellent choice for graduate students who need more flexibility than what is offered at some other schools.

Andrews University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for healthcare students to get a doctor’s degree. It came in at #11 on the list. Berrien Springs, Michigan is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out doctor’s degrees to 53 students in 2020-2021.
Around 60% of those degree recipients were women.

Western Michigan University landed the #12 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular doctor’s degree healthcare programs. WMU is a fairly large public school situated in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It awarded 16 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 81% were women.
You may have the opportunity to take online graduate classes at WMU. In fact, around 67% of the graduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
Madonna University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for healthcare students to get a doctor’s degree. It came in at #13 on the list. Located in Livonia, Michigan, the small private not-for-profit school handed out 2 doctor’s degree awards in 2020-2021.
