This report analyzed 112 schools in the Southwest Region to see which ones were the most popular master's degree programs for healthcare students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from each school on the list.

Our 2023 rankings named Grand Canyon University the most popular school in the Southwest Region for healthcare students working on their master’s degree. Grand Canyon University is located in Phoenix, Arizona and has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 3,454 master’s degrees to qualified students.
Of those students who received their degree, 87% were women.
One thing to take note of is that Grand Canyon University does offer online graduate classes in some areas. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 96% of graduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Phoenix - Arizona. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Most Popular Healthcare Master’s Degree Schools in the Southwest Region list. Tempe, Arizona is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The private for-profit school handed out master’s degrees to 1,449 students in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 88% were women.
One thing to take note of is that UOPX - Arizona does offer online graduate classes in some areas. In fact, around 99% of the graduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
Out of the 112 schools in the Southwest Region that were part of this year’s ranking, The University of Texas at Arlington landed the # 3 spot on the list. Located in Arlington, Texas, the large public school handed out 1,400 master’s degree awards in 2020-2021.

Out of the 112 schools in the Southwest Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center landed the # 4 spot on the list. TTUHSC is a medium-sized public school situated in Lubbock, Texas. It awarded 671 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 80% were women.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online graduate classes at TTUHSC. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 61% of graduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.

UTHealth is located in Houston, Texas and has a medium-sized student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 574 master’s degrees to qualified students.

You may have the opportunity to take online graduate classes at TWU. In 2019-2020 about 88% of the graduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
Aspen University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for healthcare students to get a master’s degree. It came in at #8 on the list. Located in Denver, Arizona, the medium-sized private for-profit school handed out 456 master’s degree awards in 2020-2021.
Around 90% of those degree recipients were women.
Since the graduate programs at Aspen University are primarily online school, so it is a great choice for returning adults and students who work full time.
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley landed the #9 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular master’s degree healthcare programs. UT Rio Grande Valley is a large public school situated in Edinburg, Texas. It awarded 407 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.

The University of Texas Medical Branch landed the #10 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular master’s degree healthcare programs. UTMB Galveston is a small public school situated in Galveston, Texas. It awarded 388 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.

The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for healthcare students to get a master’s degree. It came in at #11 on the list. UT Health San Antonio is a small public school situated in San Antonio, Texas. It awarded 242 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
